Solving the Macbook Pro sleeping problem once and for all
I previously wrote about how to diagnose a Mac’s sleeping problem. But a USB peripheral is not the only reason a Mac might refuse to sleep. Network access, disk writes, bluetooth are some of the other reasons a Mac might not sleep. Finding the root cause is not easy and involves rolling down your sleeves and getting your hands dirty with some terminal commands and wading through pages of system logs.
Or, you could simply install this fantastic free tool I discovered that puts your Mac to sleep! Called Please Sleep, this is a very simple utility that can be set to launch at startup and will faithfully put the Mac to sleep based on your settings. Very simple and unobtrusive.
Many thanks to the developer who did what Apple couldn’t (or wouldn’t!).
